Samsung reveals two Series 5 ultrabooks Laptop

Since just about every major portable computing solutions’ manufacturer has started to roll out their own implementations of the ultrabook concept, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Samsung’s doing the exact same thing, the company releasing two new such products, for now, just on their home market of South Korea.

As the guys over at SammyHub inform us, we’re talking about a 13-inch and a 14-inch model, respectively, both of which are powered by Intel Core i5 CPUs, accompanied by up to 8GB of RAM memory and an interesting combo in terms of storage, namely a 16GB SSD (presumably, mSATA or built right on the mobo) plus a 1TB or 500GB HDD on the side.

As expected, Samsung’s ultrabooks also provide some of the features found on Intel’s checklist for this family of portable systems, including here ExpressCache and Fast Start technologies that allow the device to start in a matter of seconds.

Additionally, they both come packed with anti-reflective, high-resolution displays, and offer users a wide array of connectivity options, much in the same way as most of the other ultrabooks that found their way onto the market over the past couple of months.

Sadly, these things are also quite expensive, given the fact that they’ll go on sale in South Korea towards the end of December at a price tag varying from 1,290,000 won (roughly 1,125 US dollars) to 1,490,000 won (or US$1298) for the 13-inch Series 5 model and 1,340,000 won ($1,167 dollars) to 1,540,000 won (US$1341) for the 14-inch flavor.
