The Series 9 monitor features Samsung's Plane Line Switching (PLS) panel technology. This offers accurate color reproduction achieving 100 percent of the sRGB color spectrum, reproducing over one billion colors that can been viewed at wide horizontal and vertical angles. Featuring a quad high-definition (QHD) resolution (2560 x 1440), the Series 9 monitor now provides professional capabilities to the consumer, regardless of the user's application.
The new Series 9 monitor utilizes Samsung's new Natural Color Engine for maximum panel performance. This includes hardware color calibrations within the monitor to ensure there is no displayable loss of tonalities on screen. This feature is enhanced by Samsung engineers who tune the colors in every Series 9 monitor by hand in the final stage of production. The Series 9 monitor's display also features an anti-glare edge-to-edge glass display and a super slim profile built on a height-adjustable aluminum stand. The Series 9 monitor incorporates an adjustment range that offers 3.94 inches of vertical movement and a tilt feature that allows users to simply angle the display to their desired viewing position.
All of the Series 9 monitor's internal components have been moved to a round aluminum base, which features all I/O ports and a USB hub. It also supports DisplayPort, Dual Link-DVI and HDMI video connections and features built-in 7W stereo speakers and a Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) for MHL-enabled smartphones and tablets.
By linking their Android MHL-compatible smartphone, users can enjoy content from their mobile devices directly on the much larger screen and with the benefit of built-in stereo audio. Users can also keep an eye on their smartphone, browse to it and even charge the device.
The new 27-inch Series 9 monitor (S27A970) will be shown for the first time at Samsung's press conference at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 9, 2012.
