One of key low-end versions of Samsung Galaxy series, the Galaxy Mini will likely get an upgrade, called the Galaxy Mini 2 at the upcoming MWC 2012. The Galaxy Mini 2 S6500, codenamed Jena, is set to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The handset has recently passed through FCC, sources reveal. Some tech blogs have posted leaked images of the rumoured Galaxy Mini 2. Indeed, the Mini 2 will be an attraction point in the Sammy’s booth at the MWC 2012, to be held in Barcelona, Spain late this month.
FCC has reportedly approved the Galaxy Mini 2 for GSM 850 and 1900 as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC. But, sadly, the Galaxy Mini 2 will come up without 3G support due the failure to get approval of any WDCMA bands. The new Galaxy Mini will have a tidy design and it may come up in various colors. Being not a champ in tech specs and features, the Mini will be a dinkier and lightweight handset.
It is a great thing that the moderate Galaxy Mini 2 will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, one of the best Android versions ever. Certainly, an average smartphone will work quite nicely on Gingerbread, which is out-of-date with the arrival of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
As per sources, the Galaxy Mini 2 will mount a 3.3-inch HVGA TFT display with an average screen resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and 3-megapixel rear camera. 800MHz single core processor will power the handset with 3GB internal memory, which will measure in at just 109mm x 59mm. No other details of the specs of Galaxy Mini 2 are available for the time being.
Some analysts would like to prefer to call the forthcoming Galaxy Mini 2 a ‘smart’ feature phone. Well, the South Korean tech manufacturer has made a huge penetration into the global feature phone market dislodging the Finnish mobile maker Nokia. The company further aims to establish its supremacy in both the feature phone smartphone markets. The Galaxy Mini 2 is a handset that blurs the gap between Samsung’s feature phones and smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 will definitely grab attention of customers with its sleek and slight design. There are lots of customers, who look forward for cheap and lightweight Android phones out in market. Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 will absolutely go with their requirements well.
Samsung will either sell the handset for free or for $29.99 with contract through some U.S carries. Thanks to 850 and 1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE radios, the Galaxy Mini 2 is compatible with both T-Mobile and AT&T networks. It seems that the Galaxy Mini 2 will be up for grabs in the U.S. soon after its release at the Mobile World Congress. It is not clear whether the Mini 2 will land in global markets.
