MSI X79A-GD45 8D Military Class III Motherboard

MSI has just announced their flagship X79-based motherboard, the X79A-GD45 (8D).It features brand-new Military Class III components, which include DrMOS II, Hi-c CAP, SFC, and Solid CAP, and all the Military Class III components have passed the 7 MIL-STD-810G tests for ensured quality. By stronger, it means that this motherboard has eight memory module slots instead of ‘just’ four.

In other words, as if 64 GB of RAM wasn’t already more than enough, the MSI X79A-GD45 (8D) can handle the absurd DDR3 capacity of 128 GB. 

MSI’s board also comes with one PCIe x1 slot, Gigabit Ethernet, four USB 3.0 ports (two on the back plate, two via a header), 7.1-channel audio, Click BIOS II (UEFI), and the OC Genie II overclocking function.

The X79A-GD45 (8D) has yet to be priced but since its quad-DIMM sibling costs 195 Euro, we’re thinking it will go over the 200 Euro mark.

EVGA SR-X Dual Socket LGA 2011 Motherboard

EVGA’s Super Record X dual socket LGA 2011 motherboard isn’t expected to arrive until the first half of 2012.

But a detailed picture preview that reveals quite a few details about this impressive Sandy Bridge-E solution.

The EVGA SR-X was previously teased a few months back and is basically a Dual LGA 2011 Socket Motherboard supporting the Sandy Bridge-EP Xeon Processors. The Dual Socket Beast features the X79 PCH Chipset and includes 12 DDR3 Memory slot offering Quad Channel Memory Support.

The motherboard is still in engineering phase which makes the lack of heatsinks obvious!

The CPU’s are powered through two 6-pin and two 8-pin connectors, an additional Six Pin Connector is also included in case more juice is required for SLI/CrossfireX setups. A total of Seven PCI-e x16 slots are included and looks like a NF200 chip is located below that black heatsink block.

All PCI-e slots can be enabled or disabled via a series of DIP switches (CPUs and SAS connectors can also be disabled via these switches). Storage includes two SATA 6.0Gbps and four SATA 3.0Gbps and I/O features USB 3.0 ports, eSATA ports, 7.1 channel audio and an EVBot connector.

Also some overclocking handy features include on-board Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons, a debug LED, as well as dual Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth connectivity.

Pricing has not yet been revealed, Release date is expected in 1H 2012.

ASUS P9X79 WS Workstation Motherboard will hit in Europe

ASUS’ latest workstation motherboard ‘P9X79 WS’ has finally been shipped in Europe. This high-end motherboard is sold for 330 Euro (about $442). Based on Intel X79 chipset, the P9X79 WS supports for Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge-E (LGA 2011) processors, and features eight DDR3-2400 memory slots and six PCI-Express x16 slots for SLI or CrossFireX setup. In terms of connectivity ports, it offers four SATA 6.0 Gbps, four SATA 3.0 Gbps, four USB 3.0, thirteen USB 2.0, 7.1 channel audio, FireWire and dual Gigabit Ethernet.

Asrock Released PCIe 3.0 on Motherboard

ASRock finally released a motherboard that has been equipped with a third-generation PCI Express slot. With greater bandwidth, is expected to increase PC performance.

ASRock has become one of the motherboard manufacturers who issued the latest variant is fast enough. Planting PCIe 3.0 slots were claimed to be the first in the world.

"ASRock has always been a leader in each cycle of evolution. We were the first to produce the most advanced motherboard PCIe Gen3," claims James Lee, Vice President Sales & Marketing ASRock.

True PCIe 3.0 slots have been introduced since 2010 ago, but because there are some specifications that should be changed, then the new vendors could release it from mid-2011.

Generation graphics card slot offers several advantages over the previous version, such as greater bandwidth (PCIe 2.0 5GT / s PCIe 3.0 8GT / s). But the slot is also still compatible with previous generations of graphics cards.

"Extreme7 Gen3 Z68 motherboard from ASRock to support the revolutionary Intel processors and Nvidia Ivy Bridge 3-Way SLI technology," said Lee, in his statement on Saturday (6/68/2011).
